Philosophy

The You & Me School for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Edison, NJ opened its doors in 1992. The school is a natural outgrowth of JRI's very successful early intervention program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The You & Me School utilizes the principles of applied behavioral analysis within a natural environment, emphasizing language-based and sensory strategies.

The You & Me School for Children with autism offers:

• An NJ state-approved private school for students with disabilities (preschool and primary grade classes)
• A full day program with a 2:1 student to staff ratio
• An extended school year
• Parent-teacher conferences, clinics, support groups, home visits
• A transdisciplinary pediatric team:
  • Board-certified behavior analyst
  • Special educators
  • Home-school liaison
  • Speech and language pathologists

School

The You & Me School for Children with autism offers two classrooms for preschool children (ages 3 to 5) and one primary level classroom for children between the ages of 5 and 8. All three classrooms are similar in structure and use discrete trial, activity-based instruction, incidental teaching, and natural environment teaching. Technology centers with computer access are available in all classrooms.

Housed in a building with a child care center, our program provides opportunities for structured and unstructured interaction with typically developing peers.

Our team closely monitors each child's progress throughout the program. Family members, school staff, and child study team members all participate in evaluation and in creating customized educational plans.

Student-to-Staff Ratio

The You & Me School for Children with autism offers a 2:1 student-to-staff ratio. Our staff brings a high level of commitment, dedication and experience to our program.
