Day Rehab Program for Children
JRI's Day Rehabilitation program for children offers intensive rehabilitation services in a nurturing environment without the need for an overnight hospital stay. This allows children to benefit from an intensive structured daytime therapy program while enjoying the comfort of home and family support during the evening. In addition, our day rehab program fills an important need in the continuum of health care by providing quality rehabilitation at one-third to one-half the cost of a pediatric inpatient stay.
JRI's day rehabilitation program is individually designed based on each child's specific rehabilitation needs. For an intensive four- to six-week period, typically postoperatively, the rehabilitation team works together with the child's family to develop and implement a program to promote independent functioning at home, in school and in the community.
Our transdisciplinary pediatric day rehabilitation team is designed to meet each child's and family's needs and may include: a physician; physical, occupational and/or speech therapists; nurses; psychologists and/or social workers; and others as appropriate.
JRI offers a range of pediatric rehabilitation services in our day program, including:
- Individual and group therapy for children
- Patient/family education
- Activities of daily living for children
- Pediatric aquatic therapy
- Recreation
- Educational tutoring
A typical pediatric day rehabilitation program includes up to three hours of therapy, one hour of recreation, one hour of tutoring, nursing and counseling as appropriate, and family education. Snacks/lunch are also included.
