Musculoskeletal Medicine
The musculoskeletal system allows us to physically move using the muscles and skeletal system it consists of the human skeleton, made by bones attached to other bones with joints, and skeletal muscle attached to the skeleton by tendons.
JRI's musculoskeletal rehabilitation services in central New Jersey are designed for people with impairments or disabilities due to disease, disorders, or trauma to the muscles or bones. Musculoskeletal rehabilitation can often improve functional capacity, reduce symptoms, and improve the patient's well-being.
Some of the conditions that may benefit from musculoskeletal rehabilitation include:
- Amputation
- Trauma injuries such as sprains, strains, joint dislocations, and fractures
- Neck and back pain
- Osteoporosis
- Orthopedic conditions
- Arthritis
- Bone tumors
- Repetitive stress injuries such as tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome
- Joint injury and replacement
The goal of our NJ musculoskeletal rehabilitation services is to help each patient return to the highest level of function and independence possible, while improving his or her overall quality of life - physically, emotionally and socially.
Musculoskeletal rehabilitation is designed to meet the needs of the individual patient, depending upon the specific problem or disease. Active involvement of the patient is essential to the success of our program. Patients may benefit from an evaluation from one of our physiatrists, physical therapists and/or occupational therapists to address their needs and work together to meet their goals.
