About Us
Open since 1974, the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute (JRI) is a major component of Solaris Health System - one of the most comprehensive health care networks in New Jersey. JRI is the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Our mission is simple: to provide quality rehabilitation that will assist adults and children living with disabilities to obtain optimal function and independence within an accepting community. Our continuum of care assures patients of an integrated, personalized program that facilitates the recovery process and encourages family participation.
Programs and Services
Over the past 20 years, JRI has developed programs in such specialties as stroke rehabilitation, orthopedic programs, fitness, cardiac rehabilitation, women's health, pediatrics and brain injury rehabilitation. We also offer the most sophisticated diagnostic services available.
In addition to providing inpatient adult and pediatric rehabilitation services, JRI treats thousands of children and adults each year on an outpatient and short-term basis. Outpatient rehabilitation programs are provided in Edison and our facilities throughout New Jersey. We also provide a variety of consulting, treatment, education, advocacy and conditioning programs for local companies, professionals and schools.
JRI offers 94 inpatient beds in a separately licensed hospital that is attached to the Anthony M. Yelencsics Community Hospital. Together, they comprise JFK Medical Center, a private, not-for-profit community hospital.
Accreditation
The JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. JRI is also licensed by the state of New Jersey as a comprehensive rehabilitation hospital.
As an affiliate of Solaris Health System, JRI offers patients access to acute hospital services, emergency care, subacute and long-term care facilities, maternity care and pediatric services. JRI also enjoys a close working relationship with the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center.
